Teens are engulfed in Social Media, and the beauty standards are growing. Teens are feeling more and more pressured to be perfect and to look good all of the time. They are bullied from their looks, pressured to be perfect, and worried about how many likes they get. As a result, social media lowers their self-esteem, and will even go as far as forming eating disorders. Social media isn’t the sole source for low body image and eating disorders and can play a huge role in it. Parents should encourage a healthy body image and lifestyle for their teens. In my paper, I will talk about the negative effects of social media on teens and what measures parents can take to reduce them.
